General Information
In today's global process, where institutional development and progress are targeted from a multi-faceted perspective by benefiting from the opinions of internal and external stakeholders in organizations operating in both public and private sectors, and where the principle of "governance" is taken as a basis, the establishment of advisory boards in public institutions and organizations has been bound to a legal framework.
In this context; in accordance with the “Regulation on the Establishment of Advisory Boards in Higher Education Institutions” published in the Official Gazette dated 08.10.2016 and numbered 29851 and the “Gaziantep University Advisory Boards Directive” annexed to article 4 of the Gaziantep University Senate meeting minutes dated 22.11.2022 and numbered 21; an Advisory Board has been established within our Faculty in order to ensure the cooperation between the public sector (and private sector organizations) and other stakeholders, the sustainability of this cooperation and to share experiences.
It is an annex to article 4 of the minutes of the meeting of the University Senate dated 22.11.2022 and numbered 21.

ADVISORY BOARDS DIRECTIVE
CHAPTER ONE
Purpose, Scope, Basis and Definitions
Purpose
ARTICLE 1- The purpose of this directive is to ensure the cooperation between Gaziantep University and its units, public and private sector organizations and other stakeholders, and the sustainability of this cooperation, to establish their own Advisory Boards in order to share experiences, and to determine their working procedures and principles.
Scope
ARTICLE 2- This directive covers the procedures and principles regarding the work of the Advisory Boards established to ensure the cooperation between the departments and programs of the academic units within Gaziantep University and the public and private sector organizations and other stakeholders and the sustainability of this cooperation.
Basis
ARTICLE 3- This directive has been prepared in accordance with the paragraph (f) of Article 44 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 04.11.1981 and the Regulation on the Establishment of Advisory Boards in Higher Education Institutions published in the Official Gazette No. 29851 dated 08.10.2016 of the Council of Higher Education.
Definitions
ARTICLE 4- In this directive;
a) Unit: Faculties, Colleges, Conservatories, Vocational Schools, Institutes and Research Centers that carry out the education program,
b) Unit Advisory Board: Advisory Board of the units of the university,
c) General Secretariat: Gaziantep University General Secretariat,
d) Rector: Gaziantep University Rector,
e) Senate: Gaziantep University Senate,
f) University: Gaziantep University,
g) University Advisory Board: Gaziantep University Advisory Board,
h) Board of Directors: Gaziantep University Board of Directors,
CHAPTER TWO
Establishment of Advisory Boards, Their Duties and Responsibilities and Working Principles and Procedures
Principles Regarding the Establishment and Dissolution of Advisory Boards
ARTICLE 5 – (1) Gaziantep University academic units may establish advisory boards for departments and programs within their body and other academic units.
(2) Each advisory board established shall be referred to together with the name of the relevant academic unit/department/program.
(3) The Unit/Department/Program advisory board shall be established, changed and, if necessary, removed by the same procedure upon the proposal of the unit/department/program director, the decision of the unit management board and the approval of the Rectorate.
Principles Regarding the Appointment of Advisory Board Members
ARTICLE 6 – (1) The following points are taken into consideration in determining the members of the advisory boards.
a) Members of the advisory boards can be selected from representatives from the labor market and culture-arts field, public administrators, representatives of non-governmental organizations and professional organizations, faculty members of different higher education institutions, faculty members currently working at Gaziantep University or retired, representatives of international organizations, individuals with theoretical or practical experience in the relevant department/program activity field of the University or graduates. Managers of political parties in the central and provincial organizations, members of the management, executive and audit boards cannot take part in the advisory boards.
b) The individuals who will serve on the Gaziantep University Advisory Boards must be in the field of activity related to the academic unit/department/program and have the ability to contribute, and are finalized with the proposal of the unit/department/program manager and the approval of the unit management board. The Gaziantep University Advisory Board is finalized with the proposal of the Rector and the approval of the Senate.
c) The number of Advisory Board members must not be less than 5.
d) The Advisory Boards are chaired by the unit/department/program heads. In the absence of the head, the unit/department/program vice head or a board member to whom the head gives power of attorney manages the meetings.
e) The board's reporting duties are carried out by a person appointed by the head.
f) Board members are elected for two years. A member whose term of office has expired can be re-elected using the same procedure. A new member is elected to replace a member who resigns from the board.
g) Within two years, a new member can be appointed with the proposal of the unit/department/program head, the decision of the unit board and the approval of the Rector's Office, taking into account the number of board members.
h) The procedure for appointment is followed in the removal of members.
ı) Board membership is honorary and does not create a payment obligation.
(2) The list of members of the Advisory Boards is shared with the public in the relevant areas of the University website.
Duties and Responsibilities of Advisory Boards
ARTICLE 7 – University/Unit/Department/Program Advisory Boards undertake the duties and responsibilities under these headings by ensuring/targeting the strengthening of communication and cooperation with the business world, supporting scientific research and increasing research performance, making recommendations for the opening of new departments and programs related to graduate, undergraduate and associate degree education, increasing the contribution of the university and units to social, cultural and artistic life, making recommendations for the preparation and updating of the applied curriculum and course contents in line with the developments in academic and business life, and achieving the program outcomes.
Procedures and Principles Regarding the Operation of Advisory Boards
ARTICLE 8 – The procedures and principles regarding the work of advisory boards are as follows:
a) Advisory boards meet at least once a year upon the call of the board chair or upon the request of the unit manager, depending on their relevance.
b) The agenda of the board is prepared by the board chair. The suggestions of the board members are taken into consideration in the preparation of the agenda. The requests of the rector or the unit manager are primarily included in the agenda and discussed. The agenda is notified to the members electronically at least five days before the meeting date.
c) The board meets with the majority of the total number of members and makes decisions with the majority of the participants in the meeting, and abstentions cannot be cast. Upon the decision of the board chair or the request of the majority of the board members, non-board members may be invited to the meeting without the right to vote in order to seek their opinions, and their opinions may be heard. The meeting is open to the participation of the institution's stakeholders without the right to vote.
d) Board decisions are advisory. Board decisions are presented to the Senate, the Board of Directors, the unit board/unit management board, depending on their relevance, and (if necessary) are discussed and decided upon in these boards.
e) The activities of the advisory boards of the units are compiled into a report each year and submitted to the Rectorate as the relevant annual report by the end of January at the latest.
CHAPTER THREE
Final Provisions
Entry into Force
ARTICLE 9 – This directive shall enter into force on the date of its approval by the Senate.
Execution
ARTICLE 10 – The Rector shall execute the provisions of this directive.

6- In order to ensure that the learning outcomes and program qualifications of our students receiving education and training in our Faculty are designed in accordance with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework; in accordance with the educational objectives and learning outcomes, and that they meet the needs of the students and the society, in order to ensure that the learning outcomes and program qualifications of our students receiving education and training in our Faculty are designed in accordance with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework and periodically evaluated and updated in order to ensure that they meet the needs of the students and the society; the Law Faculty Advisory Board, which will be established from internal and external stakeholders, will be established, and the planning of its members and meeting processes will be determined by the Dean's Office.
